FAQ's
Does my pet have to be registered with Selworthy?
No. I am still working as a self employed veterinary physiotherapist, I am just utilising the facilities at Selworthy veterinary practice.
Is small animal physiotherapy only for dogs?
Absolutely not. While dogs may be the most common small animal patients, physiotherapy can be utilised with cats, rabbits, guinea pigs, even exotic pets!
How do I know if my pet needs physio?
Your pet doesn’t need a specific injury to benefit from physiotherapy. It can support general wellness, strength and conditioning, as well as recovery after injury or surgery and management of chronic conditions. Hydrotherapy is also useful for weight loss and low-impact exercise. Every pet is assessed first so we can create a personalised programme to suit their needs.
What does a session include?
Each session is tailored to the individual pet and their needs. We start with a history, getting to know your animal, and assessing their physical condition while discussing your goals. Treatment then uses appropriate techniques, along with exercises for owners to continue at home. Every session is different, and some pets may need a few visits to fully settle into the physiotherapy environment.
